Anita Wilson Holden of Smyrna departed this life on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at Complete Care at Silver Lake in Dover. Born in Laurel, she was the daughter of the late Leon J. Wilson and Blanche Wilson Hudson. Her husband, Thomas Holden, Sr., also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Holden was a member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church where she served as a Deaconess, Missionary, Steward, Custodian, and Trustee. Prior to retiring, she was a Charge Attendant at Stockley Center in Millsboro.
She will be lovingly remembered by two children, Melanie Stancell (Eric) and Patrice Holden, Sr. (Jenny); nine grandchildren, Briana Holden, Patrice Holden, Jr., Madison Coviello, Malik Holden, Dakari Holden, Jamari Holden, Iziah Holden, Na’Zyiah Holden, and Jenyiah Holden; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Jennie Hyland, Roger Wilson, George Wilson, Leon Wilson, Evans Wilson, Gunby “Herbie” Wilson, and Richard Wilson.
Mrs. Holden will lie in repose on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, 315 Townsend Street in Laurel. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, W. 7th Street, Laurel. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, P.A. in Salisbury.
