Alberta R. Copeland, formerly of Seaford, died on Thursday, May 19, 2022. The Copeland family moved to Seaford in 1959 (DuPont Corp) and became active members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Berta retired from Nanticoke Memorial Hospital after more than 30 years of service as a maternity nurse. She was a member of the board of directors at Nanticoke Senior Center for over 20 years, member of the Delmarva Decorative Artists and Festival of Trees Volunteer for Delaware Hospice.
At the age of 87 Berta took up tap dancing in Seaford and tapped danced to Maui in 2014 where she continued to inspire in dance until she was 96. She was the daughter of the late Andrew C. Andersen and Rubye Andersen. Berta joins the Lord and her husband of 55 years, William (Neil) Copeland Sr., who passed from this earth in 2010.
Berta is survived by two sons, Neil Copeland and his wife Kathy and Conrad Copeland; two grandchildren, Andrew and Christopher Copeland and all those who share her memory. Burial Services were held Tuesday, June 7 at the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC. A memorial service will be held at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, Seaford on Thursday, June 9 at 1 p.m.
