Wayne Franklin Price, Jr. of Laurel, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on March 4, 2026. He was a proud graduate of the Laurel High School “class of 1975”. He retired from the state of Delaware Transportation Department after 31 years of service. After retirement, he was employed at the Bethel Market.

Wayne was a former Laurel Middle School football, girls basketball and softball coach. He was a Laurel Varsity Assistant softball coach for over 30 years, coached Laurel Little League softball for 30 years; coached with Delaware Technical and Community College as a head softball coach for five years and assistant softball coach for five years; also coaching travel ball for Sussex Storm, East Coast Xplosion and East Coast Elite for many years. Wayne was a former board member of Laurel Little League and the Horsey Family Youth Foundation.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Price, Sr., and Mildred Price; Aunt Barbara Hitchens and Uncle Donald Butch Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Donna Carrier Price; daughters Amy Price, Amanda Price, and Shari Collins (Wes) whom he considered a daughter; grandchildren Kylee Hill and TJ Johnson; his cousin whom he considered a brother, Danny Price (Florence); special cousin Eddie Morris (Kathy), and many more cousins; father-in-law Donald Carrier (Doris); brother-in-law Neal Carrier (Lis) and nephews Jeb Carrier and Chance Carrier (Carly).

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Central Worship Center Gymnasium, 14545 Sycamore Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Tim Dukes and Pastor Jay Revels will officiate. Interment will be private.
