It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Nolt, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on Nov. 20, 2024. She was born on Sept. 30, 1936 in Lititz, PA to the late Walter and Josephine Smith.

Helen met the love of her life Lester and they married May 7, 1955 and lived in Ephrata until moving to Seaford in 1965 for Lester’s work. They had four children, Greg, Mike, Barry and Lisa.

Helen’s greatest joy was having her family together and making chicken and beef and dumplings. She loved baking Christmas cookies with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She made dresses for the girls, hand smocked, machine embroidered and hair bows to match. She enjoyed doing ceramics with her daughter-in-law and made everyone their own needlepoint Christmas stockings as well as hand-quilted bedspreads. She was always in the kitchen making homemade strawberry preserves, pies, peach cobbler, dumplings and Shoofly pie. She loved working in her yard planting flowers.

Helen and Lester loved to travel and take cruises with Harold and Floy Nolt, Mac and Shirley MacArthur, Denny and Tut Snader and visiting with her nephews and nieces, Terry and Ann Nolt, Vickie and Dave Manchester, Gary and Kathy Nolt, Dennis and Kelly Nolt and Jan and Dee Nolt all from Pa. They would also spend several months in Hobe Sound, Fla.

Helen is survived by her son Greg (Cherie); granddaughters, Jennifer Wright (Adam) of Georgetown and Alison Reim (Brandon) of Millsboro; great-grandchildren, Breyden Wright, Kendyl Wright and Emmy Reim. She is also survived by her sisters, Mabel (Mim) Buffenmyer of Ohio, Eileen Landis of Sarasota, Fla. and Betty Barry of Ephrata, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester; children, Mike, Barry and Lisa; also, her parents, two sisters and a brother.

We would like to thank the staff at Paradise Senior Living for their excellent and compassionate care of our mom.

Funeral services will be private in Pa.
