Delma was predeceased by her parents, Betsy and Verlon Frye, and her brother Delsmere and his wife Peggy.

Delma’s professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. After marrying Howard Adkins and raising their three children, she embarked on a career that saw her working at Western Union as a teletyper in Salisbury for five years. She then dedicated over two decades of her life to Pantry Pride as a meat wrapper, showcasing her commitment and work ethic. Delma’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she successfully ran ‘Duck in Deli’ with three locations for 10 years. Her career path also led her to real estate, where she made her mark as a realtor and appraiser in Lewes.  After selling her business, Delma enjoyed a well-deserved retirement in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, before returning to her family home in Seaford in 2016.

Delma’s interests were a reflection of her love for life and nature. She found joy in gardening, tending to her chickens, and the art of summer canning. Her card-playing skills were unmatched, and she took pleasure in cooking, baking, and watching birds. Delma’s pets, including her beloved dogs and cats, were a source of great happiness. She cherished spending time with her family, whether it was shopping at Boscov’s, dining out, or simply being together. Delma will be fondly remembered for the peanut butter whirls and fudge she lovingly made for Christmas, treats that became a family tradition.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness and grace. Delma’s life was a journey of love, laughter, and service, and she will be dearly missed

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
