Kenda Marie Bates of Delmar passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Kenda was born in Japan on Sept. 21, 1964 to Laurence O. Bates, Sr. of Maine and the late Judith Ann Giles.
Through the years, Kenda worked as a secretary at a law office, attended college for nursing, and did some modeling as a little girl.
She is survived by her father and step-mother, Laurence O. Bates, Sr. and Beverly; sons, Joseph Owen Ellis and BJ; daughter, Crystal; grandchildren, Lacey Ellis, Jade Ellis, Hunter Luther, Levi Timmons, Austin Timmons, and River Timmons; brothers, Laurence O. Bates, Jr. and William Giles Bates; special friends, Daddy Buck Timmons and Debbie Timmons who was like a daughter to her.
A visitation for family and friends was held on Monday, July 24 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. A graveside service followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
