Jane Parrish Locke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Oct. 27, 2022.
Jane was the daughter of the late William Presley Parrish and Estora Morgan Parrish, the sister of the late Nancy Burleson and husband, Hal and the wife of the late James Patrick Locke, who died July 13, 2002. She was reared in Atlanta, Georgia, and became the wife of Jim Aug. 15, 1953. They moved to Blacksburg, Va., where Jim played football for V.P.I., graduated with a degree in business administration, then moved to Seaford, where he was employed by DuPont.
Jane graduated from Henry Grady High School, where she was co-captain of the cheerleaders, a member of the varsity basketball and tennis teams, the Beta Club, Dramatics Club, Glee Club pianist, and was voted “Most Popular.”
Jane received a Bachelor of Business Administration at University of Georgia, where she was treasurer of professional Panhellenic Council, treasurer of Phi Chi Theta, professional business sorority, a member of ZTA, the Bulldog Club, Student Union Council, Women’s Athletic Association, URSA, accompanist Glee Club, and Tumbling Club officer.
In Delaware at Greenwood High School, she was a business education teacher, cheerleader coach, accompanist Glee Club, coached girls’ softball, and was assistant basketball coach. At Lewes High School she was a business education teacher and cheerleader coach, and at Del Tech College, she was a business education teacher.
Jane was a member of Sussex County Teachers Association; secretary-treasurer Delaware State Business Teachers’ Association; National Education Association; American Association of University Women; Dean, seven years of American Guild of Organists, Southern Delaware Chapter.
At Grace Baptist Church over the years, she was teacher, Young Peoples class; teacher, children’s ministry; organist; accompanist, adult choir; accompanist, “Grace Boys” quartet; keyboardist in “Grace Band,” leader, Girls’ Auxiliary; director, children’s choir and youth choir; and director, worship team.
Jane is survived by three daughters and one son: daughter Lori Lee, husband Robert; grandchildren Meagan Sekscinski, husband Mike and great-grandchildren Addison and Paisley; grandchildren Joshua and Will Miller; daughter Susan Walker, husband Michael; daughter Sally Rogers, husband Scott; grandchildren Clint McGee; great-grandson Ayden; Dalton McGee; great-grandson Rogan; son James Patrick Locke, Jr., wife Marion; grandchildren Madison Wilson, husband Caleb; great-grandson James Conner; Camden, Kalin, Braxton, Isabella, Kobe, Emerson and Kolton.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 at 1 p.m. with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. at Grace Seaford Church, 805 Atlanta Rd., Seaford, DE 19973.
