Alice Elizabeth Donovan Naggy of Seaford passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022. She was born on Aug. 24, 1928 in Federalsburg, one of seven children of the late Roy Edward and Evelyn (Seagars) Donovan.

Mrs. Naggy was a faithful member of Crossroad Community Church since 2008 and was involved in a cleaning team she named Rise and Shine, whose purpose was to maintain and clean the church every six weeks. “Miss Betty,” as she was fondly called,  was also a member of the Garden Cell Group, sometimes helping with weeding and watering the flowers. She periodically helped with gardening at the Nanticoke Senior Center as well. While living in New York City, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years at the First Baptist Church in Hicksville, Long Island, NY. After her two children became teenagers, she started working for the House of Donuts in Hicksville, New York as a waitress for many years, retiring at age 65.

Mrs. Naggy had many and varied interest and hobbies, including attending her beloved garden. She did a tremendous amount of traveling with her husband, and together they visited all 50 states, with the exception of Hawaii. They also traveled to Canada to visit her husband’s aunts and uncles. She fondly recalled the time she and her husband traveled to Alaska to visit family and spent a few days at their bed and breakfast. Mrs. Naggy also went on a mission trip to Haiti with the Crossroad Community Church. Her daughter Donna accompanied her on two trips as well: one in California and one in Martha’s Vineyard.

A kindhearted spirit with a charitable and sociable nature, Mrs. Naggy always lent a helping hand to those in need. She found her calling in attending to the needs of others, whether it be her spouse, her children, her church, or the many members of her community. She was full of energy and had an incredible zest for life. Her daughter Donna never ceased to be amazed at how many friends she had and kept in touch with throughout her life. Mrs. Naggy was a wonderful and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Naggy was preceded in death by her first husband, George Charles Naggy, who passed away in 2008; her three brothers: Ted (Mary), Hubert (Sarah Lee), and Johnny (Jessie); her sisters: Virginia Lee (Bill) and Pattsy Rider; her aunt, Anita; her uncle, Bill; and her sister-in-law, Emma Naggy. She is survived by her second husband, Marion Norwood Masten, the love of her life, whom she married in June 2009; her son, Stephen Naggy of Johns Islands, SC; her daughter, Donna Naggy of Seaford; her stepsons: Stephen and his companion, Irene, Mark, and Eric (Grace); and his granddaughter, Sarah; her granddaughters: Jennifer Wingfield (Collin), and Jill Masi (Chris) and her great-grandchildren: Regan, Charles, Sophia, and Lillian; her sister, Jeanette; and her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 16 at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown. Chapel Committal Services followed at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home and Crematorium, a Parsell Family Funeral Home in Seaford.
