Nancy Jane Curry of Fruitland passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.

She was born Oct. 28, 1936 in Bellevue, PA, a daughter of the late Robert and Edna May Mclaren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Sally M. Mclaren; and a daughter, Jennifer Curry Tawes.

She started her career as a mathematician for Bettis Westinghouse Atomic Power Laboratory and the Shippingport Atomic Power Station. In 2012 she was invited to the last cruise of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) decommissioning ceremony for her work on the Nautilus (first nuclear-powered submarine) while working at Bettis Westinghouse. She obtained her BS in math at SU and later earned her MS in math, graduating in the same ceremony with her daughter Jennifer. She was a high school math teacher having taught in Laurel, Delaware County, Pa. and retiring from Delmar, during which time she taught some courses at Salisbury University. She was an active member of Wicomico Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and was involved with many activities, such as the soup kitchen. She served many years as a volunteer on the emergency helpline and also coached the math team.

She is survived by her sisters, Marge Keen and Susan Lambert and Richard; brother, Robert Mclaren; daughter, Beth Ventrone; son, Timothy Curry and Kay; grandchildren, Brian Truesdale and Katie, Corinne Truesdale, Shane Truesdale and partner Corey Becker, Spencer Truesdale and Hilary, Jack Tawes, IV, Lisa Miller and Sam, Kris Bell, Brittany Boyce and Ericca Boyce and Joey; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends was held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, followed by the funeral service. Interment was held on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa, Del.
