Seaford High boys’ track and field team defeated Woodbridge, 70-60, in a Henlopen South meet last week in Seaford. The Blue Jays’ Juli’n Adkins, Noah Keglovits, Michael Paddy and Doubensly St. Jean won the 4X800 meter relay (4:00.24). St. Jean exploded to come back in the final leg of the race to win the event. Seaford’s Taishawn Frisby, Michael Paddy, Zahir Seymore, and De’Marion Simmons also took first place in the 4×200 (1:36.83) and 4×100 (45.68) relays.

Woodbridge’s Tre’Aughn Gorham took first (18:18) and Christopher Crooks placed second (20:43) in the 110 hurdles with Seaford’s Juli’n Adkins in third place (22:36). In the 300 meter hurdles Woodbridge ran unopposed for first and second place as Gorham (50.9) and Crooks (50.08) came in first and second.

Woodbridge’s Ruth Ernest took first place in the high jump for the Blue Raiders.

In the 100 meter dash, Seaford’s Taishawn Frisby placed first (10.74), Woodbridge Everette Burton was second (10.98) and the Raiders’ Emmanuel Miles-Martin came in third (11.26).

Seymore (24.18) nosed out Woodbridge’s Isaiah Giles (24.19) in the 200 meter and Christian Artson finished third (24.9). Paddy ran to a first place (56.18) in the 400 meter run and Barry Vessels (1:01.90) came in second for Woodbridge. Seaford’s Doubensly Saint Jean took first place (2:31.50) in the 800 meter and Tyrone Hickman of Woodbridge finished second (2:37.01).

In the 3200 meter run Woodbridge’s Te’Quan Smith finished first (14:02.74) and Seaford’s Kyler Smoot  placed second (18:08.58).

In the field events, Woodbridge’s Derrick Sirmons threw a 152’ 7.5” discus for first place, Seaford’s Kayden Andrews was second (114’ 6”), and Seaford’s De’Andre Smith (87’ 6”) finished in third place. In the shot put Sirmons (50’ 5”) won first place, Andrews was second (33’ 8”), and Woodbridge’s Te’Quan Smith finished third (32’4”).

In the long jump event Seaford won first and second place with Areon Purnell (18’10”) and Jermaine Sturgis (16’3”) and Gorham (15’ 11”) came in third. In the triple jump Jermaine Sturgis recorded the win with a 33’ 4” jump. In the high jump event Seaford’s Sincere Harris took first place, Noah Keglovits was second, and  Miles-Martin placed third.

In the girls’ meet, Woodbridge defeated Seaford by a score of 98-26 for the victory. Individual and relay team results begin with Woodbridge running unopposed in the 4×800 meter with a time 12:44 for the five points. In the 4×200 Seaford’s Myesha Seymore, Za’Riya Brim, Makyra White, and Tamarr Janvier took first place (1:59.42). The Seaford relay team was disqualified in the 4×100 and Woodbridge scored with their run of 57.3.

In the 100 meter hurdles Woodbridge’s Lov’a Coverdale (19.24) won first, Seaford’s Destiny Stewart was second (20.29) and Miracle’ Renae Johnson (23.11) came in third. In the 300 meter hurdles Coverdale took first place (56.14) with Seaford’s DJemyra Thelius in second place (1:13.05).

In the 100 meter dash Seaford’s Makyra White ran 12.58 for first place, Za’Riya Brim placed second (13.98), and Woodbridge Syairah Reid finished in third place (13.53). Reid won the 200 meter dash (26.43) with White  in second (27.93), and Woodbridge’s Brianna Cooke in third (29.3).

In the 400 meter dash Woodbridge ran unopposed with Reid in first place (1:18.99), Cooke in second (1:24.46), and Annabella Bowser in third (1:28.99). Woodbridge ran unopposed in the 800 meter run with Adriana Schrock in first (2:48.81) in first place and Ruth Ernest in second (2:36.90).

Woodbridge took top three finishes in the 1,600 beginning with Schrock (6:11.78), Irene Ernest in second (6:53.74), and Shakyra Hood in third (7:01.27). In the 3200 meter run Woodbridge won all three spots with Schrock in first (14:02.65), Irene Ernest in second (15:58.93), and Charlie-Marie Hunt in third (15:59.65).

In the field events Woodbridge won the top three finishes in discus beginning with Gabrielle Lofland  (96’6”), Kyra Miles-Martin (59’1”), and Emma Short (54’3”). In the shot put Woodbridge also took all three spots: Lofland (26’ 6”), Miles-Martin (21’ 9”), and Short (27’ 2”). In the long jump event Seaford’s Sara Porras took first place (12’ 7”), Hood second (9’ 10”), and Marlisha Alphonse in third (9’9”).
