Russell “Britt” Allen Brittingham of Seaford passed away peacefully at home with his wife and mother by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023. He was born in Seaford on April 2, 1959, son of Janice Dix (Whaley) of Seaford and the late Russell L. Brittingham.
“Britt” grew up in Seaford, graduating from Seaford High School. He proudly served with the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. Russell then began a long career as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years.
In his spare time, he could be found working on cars and trucks, riding his motorcycle, and helping Preston with his go-karts. More than anything, Russell treasured time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, Russell was preceded in death by his son, Jason L. Brittingham, and his sister Kathy Sue Fleetwood, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Susan “Sue” Brittingham (Twining) whom he married in Delmar on Dec. 12, 2012; his children: Jennifer Thompson (Michael) of Sailsbury and Bobby Ballantine (Karrie) of St. Louis, MS; his grandchildren: Jason Brittingham (Katie Penuel) of Georgetown, Karmyn Brittingham of Magnolia, Liam Brittingham of Seaford, Bridgette Harmon (Chase) of Sailsbury, Colin Green (Maya Barnes) of Sailsbury, Reese Cuffaro of York, Pa., and Gavin Fishell of York, Pa.; his great-grandchild, Asher Cuffaro-Molina of York, Pa.; his sister, Tiffany Woodall (Jason) of Greenwood; aunts Jean Fleetwood (Roland) of Seaford, Edna Hastings of Seaford, Kitty Bledsoe of Denton; nieces: Haley McGray (Brett) and son Caden of Seaford and Emily Woodall; nephews: Hunter Slater of Greenwood and Evan Woodall of Greenwood as well as several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Christian Church of Seaford, 22581 Sussex Highway, Seaford, DE 19973, where friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Watson-Yates Funeral Home in Seaford, a Parsell Family Funeral Home.
