Rev. George Robert “Bob” Thawley of Salisbury, NC passed away Monday, July 26, 2021.

He was born Nov. 27, 1935 in Laurel to the late George and Floyd Morris Thawley. Rev. Thawley attended high school in Millsboro and graduated from Eastern Pilgrim College in Allentown, Pa. He served as a pastor for 30 years, was a member of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection, and attended Victory Chapel in Lexington, N.C. Rev. Thawley loved to attend church, read, and completed reading the Bible, from start to finish, 66 times.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Esther Thawley and son-in-law, Michael Veres.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beulah Ann Thawley; son, Roger Lee Thawley and wife, Susann, of Salem, OH; daughter, Diana Lynn Gay and husband, Tim, of Salisbury; brother, Arthur “Buddy” Thawley and wife, Catherine, of DE; sister, Thelma Gilster and husband, Reginald, of MI; grandchildren, Jonathan Thawley and wife, Joy, of TN, Regina Thawley of Salem, OH, Roanna Thawley of Cleveland, OH, James Michael Veres of Kent, OH, and Danielle Veres of NC; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luke Thawley of TN.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 7 in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
