Melynda L. Hitchens of Laurel passed away on Feb. 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Orleans, France, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Snyder, Sr. and survived by her mother, Shirley J. Longstreet Snyder. 

Melynda was an administrative assistant with Trinity Transport. She enjoyed working for Darrel Banning, as she considered him a great friend. Some of her favorite pastimes and hobbies were quilting, bowling, watching NASCAR racing and the Steelers play football, as well as cheering on the Penguins Hockey team. 

Melynda is survived by her loving husband, Brian Hitchens of Laurel; daughter, Meryha Neate and her fiancé James Lord of Laurel; grandchildren, Elizabeth Neate, Kayley Michels, and Daryan Michels; great-granddaughters, Adelynne Finney and Brooklyn Bledsoe; sister, Kam Sullivan and her husband Chuck; niece, Korrine Snyder, Brianna and Demetrius; nephew, Keith Snyder and Larissa; and her beloved dogs, Leah and Sooner. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Snyder, Jr. All services will be held privately.
