Surrounded by his family and friends, Robert (Bob) Jones of Seaford went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 10, 2026. Bob was born on April 23, 1944, the son of E. Melvin Jones and Violet Cathell Jones. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1963 and served as class president. He attended the University of Delaware for one year before marrying Phyllis Adams Jones of Seaford on Dec. 11, 1964. They made their lifelong home in Seaford, and he began his career at the Dupont Seaford Nylon Plant on Oct. 12, 1964. He retired on Nov. 30, 2002, after a 38-year career.
Bob enjoyed family time at the beach, cruises with his wife and friends, playing Sudoku, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an active member of Seaford Wesleyan Church (Ark) and served as Vice Chairperson of the Church Board. He humbly served his church family and especially enjoyed weekly visitation.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis; his children, Tracy Kaye Bell (Jeffrey), Dr. David Adam Jones (Kalie), and Heather Jones Metzler (Rob); and his grandchildren, Porter Metzler, Peyton Metzler, Luke Metzler, Jones Metzler, Amber Bell, Ainsley Bell, Kasey Bell, and Madison Jones.
He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca Jones Pleasant, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Seaford Wesleyan Church (Ark). Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., service at noon, and luncheon immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bob’s memory to Delaware Hospice.
