Mary E. Plymale Fairchild went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Seaford Center Genesis.

She was born on August 11, 1924 in Pike County, Kentucky. The daughter of the late Ralph Plymale and Eloise Reed, her stepmother Nancy. She was a coal miners’ daughter. Mary came to Smyrna from Kentucky for employment during the war. She worked in Elkton, MD at the Powder Plant making ammunition for the war. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Fairchild, a special friend Frank Taylor, and a stepsister Eloise Brinkley. Mary previously worked in the garment factory for 30 plus years, Solo Cup for 10 years and as a foster grandparent in the Seaford School System for 25 years, retiring at the age of 85.

She is survived by three children, Rosemary Dean, Nancy Lewis, and Richard Fairchild, four grandchildren Charles M. Dean, James R. Fairchild, Glenna Lewis and Michelle Ruiz, nine great-grandchildren, Kyler Fairchild, Phoenix Dean, Jude Dean, Michael Lewis, Madison Lewis, Maly Martinez Lewis, Kayla Arnette, Kelly Culver, Karah Herbert, Georgie Moore and step grandson Christopher M. Dean. She is also survived by her brother Ralph H Plymale Jr (Mildren), from Mt. Olivet, Kentucky; nieces and nephews Suzie Moore, Nancy Jo Scott, Stephen Plymale and Jeffrey Plymale; a special friend Lynn Dean from N.C.; and dear friend Denis Emmett.

She attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Seaford where a memorial service will be held later. Due to the Covid-19, all services will be private. Burial was in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood and arrangements were in care of Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford.
