Lora Lou Young of Seaford passed away in the early morning hours on Oct. 15, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Baltimore, Md. to Regina I. and Everett J. Hennessey on July 2, 1941.
In 2006, Lora retired from Harrington Raceway and Casino. She loved the Lord and attended church faithfully when her health allowed it. She was an avid reader and especially loved studying the Bible and discussing it with her friends Jackie and Peggy. Her greatest achievement in life was raising six children to the best of her ability and watching her grandchildren grow up. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Holidays were some of her happiest times and she always looked forward to family dinners at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. She spent many hours cooking and baking and enjoyed it thoroughly. Lora enjoyed donating to causes close to her heart, especially organizations for animals and children. Her love of horses started as a young child, and she liked to decorate her home with pictures and figurines of them. Lora was a strong woman, loving, kind and giving. She loved helping others. Her loving nature, selfless giving and sassy attitude shown through in all she did.
Lora was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Regina Hennessey; husbands George W. King I and Galen F. Young; and beloved grandchildren Rachel Messick and Jeffrey King.
She is survived by her children, George W. King II (Colleen) of Pa., Susan Laura of Hebron, Becky Gustin (Mike) and Amy Tucker (Ray) of Seaford, Shari King of Bethel and Steven King (Kim) of Fla.; a sister Millie White (Robert) of Seaford; grandchildren, Kelly Wright, Ryan Messick, Brittany King, Victoria Arthur, Sydney West, Malia Messick, Kylie King, Cameron Copper, and Hayden King; niece Heather Phillips (Ray) and great nephew Dylan; several great-grandchildren and “daughter number five“ Bobbi Johnson.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Oct. 29 in Laurel.
