He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Cheryl Adkins Yarema, and his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Adkins.

He is survived by his daughters, Georgia Adkins of Jonesborough, TN; Jennifer (David) Simowitz of Blades; and Holly Adkins of Salisbury. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robbie, Greg, and Erik LeCates; Tyler and Jackson Simowitz; and Hayley Vogan. After graduating college, he started his career as an art teacher and co-chair of the department at a high school in La Plata, Md. After returning to Delmar, he pursued other employment in management, supervisor, and service tech work. In 2010, he retired from Holt Paper Co. By 2015, he finally retired from his sign business, Adkins Signs, after 35 years. He then began buying, selling, and repairing used appliances.

For over 12 years, he created and hosted Open Mic Christian Night at local churches. He truly enjoyed the humor, praise, and fellowship with friends and local singers. He could also be found, after retiring, doing boardwalk entertainment as Willie Nelson, Spongebob, Spiderman, and, of course, Skinny Elvis. He enjoyed singing classic hits and Christian songs.
