Barbara Vaughn Seth of Seaford passed away on Aug. 28, 2026. She was born on May 22, 1943, in Allentown, Pa., to the late William and Mary Vaughn.

Barbara attended Gettysburg College for two years before supporting her husband through his degree. Demonstrating lifelong determination, she attended six colleges over the years, ultimately earning her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in 1988 and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Augusta College (GA) in 1993.

Her professional life reflected extraordinary adaptability, empathy, and service. She managed several medical offices; worked in military family advocacy and family services in Okinawa, Japan; and served as a counselor in two correctional facilities, as well as one of the nation’s early HIV clinics in Albany, Ga. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on everyone she served. She was a remarkable mother guiding her sons into manhood. For 25 years, she also selflessly filled one of the most demanding roles in the military: a Marine Corps officer’s wife.

In 1964, Barbara married the love of her life, Fred D. Seth, Jr., with whom she shared 62 wonderful years. Together, they traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Far East and enjoyed many cruises. Barbara was an avid reader and a jewelry hobbyist who loved gifting and selling her handcrafted beaded pieces. Above all, she was known as a warm, generous woman who readily turned strangers into friends.

As devout Christians, Barbara and Fred were active members of Reformation Lutheran Church in Milford.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son, William Vaughn Seth, and her sisters, Deborah Vaughn and Susan Wavrek.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Duncan Seth, Jr.; her sister, Mary Lazor; her sons, Glenn Vaughn Seth and Adam Job Seth; and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Seth, Quinton Hiott, Asiya Seth, and Zayn Seth.

The memorial service will take place on Friday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church, located at 613 Lakeview Ave, in Milford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org).
