The Laurel varsity softball team improved to 5-1 overall with an 18-3 win over Seaford last week at home. Laurel scored four runs in the first inning before tacking on 12 more in the second for complete control of the game. Pitching the win for Laurel was Baylee Lynch who gave up two hits and one run over three innings. Satisha Louis finished the game for the Bulldogs

Autumn Austin battled with Khloe Shockley and Kathryn Calloway, whose patience put them on base with walks. Laurel walked 11 times in the game and Lynch, Ashlyn Ullman, and Shockley all scored on passed balls for the 3-0 score and later Calloway crossed home on a wild pitch.

Laurel went to work in the second scoring 12 runs beginning with an infield single by Bailey Ullman. Laurel scored on a single by Journey Hearne and later Lynch scored with the bases loaded walk to Shockley. Calloway doubled twice, Satisha Louis, and Jai’Lah Shockley each doubled, while Braidyn Hoffman singled all erupted into a 16-0 lead.

Seaford scored in the top of the third inning when Jordyn Evans line drive to center field advanced her to third base on an error by Laurel outfield. Evans scored on a sacrifice to right field for the 16-1 score. In the fifth inning, Laurel gave up two walks and a single to load the bases and Aiyanna Bennett stole home for the second Seaford run. The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a home run by Kathryn Calloway.

The Blue Jays scored a third run in the top of the fifth inning when Jordyn Evans advanced to third base after a walk and two steals. Evans scored on a fly ball to left field for the 18-3 final score.
