With the New Year right around the corner, Southern Delaware Tourism is working to fill out our 2025 website calendar. Our calendar is just one of the many ways we promote and encourage year-round tourism in Sussex County, but it’s a really big one. Getting the word out about the events, activities and festivals taking place here throughout the year for visitors to enjoy during their stays or to plan their visits around is a crucial part of our promotion efforts.

Our social media posts flow largely from our calendar, as do our monthly consumer newsletters and our weekly hotel alerts. People will be planning short getaways and annual vacations very soon, so it’s important that our calendar be as up to date as possible as early as possible. We are working now to populate the calendar with events scheduled to take place throughout 2025.

To add your event to our calendar, go to our website at www.VisitSouthernDelaware.com, click on Events and then Calendar, and you’ll see an Add Your Event button on the top right. Along with your event info, a photo or image is required on the form. We can accept jpg or png files only. Please do not use pdf files. If the image you wish to use is not a jpg or png file, go to Zamzar.com to convert your image file for attachment to your listing form. It’s easy!

If you are an arts & entertainment partner, upload your events listings to www.DelawareScene.com. Southern Delaware listings in that calendar automatically stream from their calendar to ours. There is an approval process that can take several days, so make sure to upload your events as early as possible.

Keep in mind that our calendar listings and social media posts consist of items that will be of interest to visitors including community events, activities and festivals. Typically, we post only items that would draw visitors from 50 or more miles away. We don’t typically post items from individual businesses, unless the item is a collaboration between two or more tourism partners. If you’re unsure whether your listing is appropriate for our calendar, send it in and let our approvals process do its job.

We know that you’re still really, really busy with 2024 and that your 2025 calendar is probably the farthest thing from your mind right now. But keep in mind that as soon as the holidays are over people begin looking ahead to spring and summer travel, so start sending us your late winter/early spring events in January. Throughout the rest of the year, please submit your events at least three months in advance so our visitors will always know what they have to look forward to when planning their 2025 travel to Southern Delaware.
