Joseph W. Szewczak passed away peacefully at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital on Nov. 15, 2022.
Born in June 1943, in Germantown, Pa., he was the son of the late Rudolph and Rose (Baird) Szewczak (both dec). He graduated from North Catholic High School. He met the love of his life, Eileen, shortly after graduation and married her in 1964; they were married for 56 years, before she passed away. They resided in Philadelphia, Pa. before retiring to Seaford.
Joe loved to be around his family and tell stories. Over his lifetime he loved to spend time with his entire extended family, by going to the zoo, fishing, picnics, vacationing in Wildwood Crest as well as traveling on cruises with his wife and work friend; but he especially looked forward to family gatherings and going to sisters, brother, and other relatives’ houses. Joe was the life of the party and always kept everyone laughing by telling a funny story or making a funny face when the camera came around to him. He also enjoyed his cigars, bird watching and Philadelphia sports.
Besides his parents Joe was predeceased by his wife Eileen, and survived by his children, Anne Marie McPeake and Joseph, Jr.; son-in-law Vincent McPeake; grandchildren Jaclyn and Sean McPeake, sisters Anne (Dennis) Ellena, and Betty (Bill, dec) Obst; brother Rudy (Louanne, dec) Szewczak, and nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
The funeral mass was at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Seaford on Monday, Nov. 21. To leave a condolence visit www.cranstonfuneralhome.com.
