Johnnie Richard Parkinson III passed away Jan. 20, 2023 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla. His wife of 47 years, Jean Marie Young Parkinson, was by his side when he passed.
He was born in Salisbury on Feb. 25, 1942 to Johnnie Richard Parkinson Jr. and Mildred Marie (Figgs) Parkinson, from Deal Island, Md. Richard was predeceased by both his parents and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He retired from DuPont in Seaford on June 30, 2001 after 36 years of service.
Richard was an avid sports fan and dedicated over 30 years working as a baseball and softball umpire for school and local ball leagues as well as traveling to tournaments several states away until he was in his early seventies. Richard and his wife Jean relocated to Lakeland, Fla. in 2017 to enjoy retiree life in sunny Florida. He enjoyed time with his friends and in his community. His true pride and joy in life were his children and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife Jean; a daughter Annette Dilworth; a son Jade Parkinson; and a daughter Jessica Loiseau (husband, Michael); grandchildren Leigha Parkinson, Katie Dilworth, Brett Dilworth II, Deanna Martin, Deja Emmerick, Kai Parkinson, Joanna Loiseau, and Johnnie Loiseau. He also is survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service held in late February. Please contact a family member for details.
