In loving memory, Jesse W. Eskridge, Sr, was surrounded by his family when he passed peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2020.
Jesse attended Sussex Central School where he met his future wife, Dawn West, in eighth grade. After they both graduated in 1986, they became husband & wife on Aug. 2, 1986 where their infectious love and affection for each other grew over 33 years until his death.
Jesse was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served during Desert Storm 1986– 1990. He was always a devoted supporter of all veterans and held them close to his heart. During his years serving our country, Jesse and Dawn had two wonderful and strong sons; Jesse “Wade” Eskridge, Jr. (fiancée Hannah Scott) and David “Garrett” Eskridge (fiancée Sara Stefanowitz). Jesse was a proud father and “poppy” to his eight grandchildren: Caleb, Kaelyn, Lilah, Ava, Brody, Nolan, Tucker, and Emma Jane. He spoke of his family often with much joy and happiness and “love”. Jesse was no stranger to anyone, always telling stories about the many adventures with his wife, their sons and grandchildren, as well as several friends he had met throughout his life.
Jesse was a member of the Seaford Elks, Seaford Moose Lodge, American Legion and the VFW. In his lifetime he loved to sing, play poker, and shoot pool. He was fan of the Baltimore O’s and Pittsburgh Steelers and had a great love for golfing.
Jesse was the son of Jesse R Eskridge, Jr. and stepmother April, and the late Shirley Eskridge, who passed in 2018. He also had two brothers, M. Chad Eskridge, Jason R. Eskridge (wife Arlene), and a sister Julie Powers (husband W. Skip); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jesse’s services were held on Friday, June 5 at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St, Seaford. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be sent to Support our Veterans, 21191 Camp Rd. Seaford, DE 19973.
