Hattie Louise Massey, formerly of Laurel, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Lofland Park Center Seaford. 

Born in Bishopville on Nov. 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel White Taylor. 

As well as having been a full time homemaker & mother, Mrs. Massey had worked as a secretary for many years with the Delaware State Police Troop 5, Southern States, W.B. Venables & Sons and Laurel Senior Center. Prior to her retirement, she lastly worked with the Visiting Nurses Association of Georgetown. She was a former member of King’s United Methodist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband – John A. Massey, who died in April 1988; two sons – Larry and Terrence Massey; a sister – Almiria Lewis and two brothers – John & William Taylor II. Mrs. Massey is survived by two daughters – Linda Abbott & Bonnie (Frank) Baker; a son – Michael “Mike” (Mary Grace) Massey; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel. Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 108 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947 or American Cancer Society, 1315 Mt. Hermon Road, Salisbury, MD  21804.
