Since its founding in 1979, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce has experienced many ups and downs, including an unprecedented pandemic. Since the chamber’s income is derived from member businesses who invest in the chamber, the economy affects what the chamber is able to accomplish.

What does a chamber do? We support and advocate on behalf of our member businesses. We give member’s visibility and provide networking opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals. We provide credibility, a voice and help members grow.

We care and appreciate our members. But, what makes us different from the six other chambers in Sussex County and the statewide chambers?

The primary focus of the Georgetown Chamber is its members.

We are not as event heavy as other chambers, but we attempt to provide relevant speakers and make certain our members and prospective members feel comfortable at our monthly events.

We interact with our members (not as lobbyists) to provide information that keeps our businesses informed and engaged with our legislators.

We attend the Small Business Caucus and Small Business Day in Dover on behalf of our member businesses.

We have an engaged board of directors that is passionate about what the Georgetown Chamber does and what it takes to help our businesses grow.

The main benefit of chamber membership is networking, so we do our best to make sure people know each other and can make the necessary connections.

We do our best to make our members feel valued and value the benefits of being a member of the Georgetown Chamber.

Our events are focused on the community. At Wings & Wheels, we provide our local middle and high schools with the opportunity to learn about careers and education in aviation, and our community with the chance to learn about aviation, the military and World War II.

Children enjoy our annual Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Parade. We also help with Sussex County’s Annual Food Drive during Caroling on the Circle. Twice a year we partner with the Department of Labor to host a job fair. New in 2025 will be a Women’s Pampering & Partnership event on International Women’s Day.
