Fay Marie Burket passed away on March 2, 2026, in Seaford. She was born June 4, 1938, in Milford. Fay graduated from Bridgeville High School and was a member of the first Sussex Vo-Tech LPN class. She worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, serving in many areas of nursing including ED, OR, and geriatric nursing. She especially enjoyed working in Dr. Wolfgangs office in Seaford.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Wheatley (Kelly); her daughter, Valerie Gilbert (Mike); her grandchildren, Jordan Crockett (Matt), Michael Gilbert (Chasity), Meredith English, Greg Wheatley, Madelyn Gilbert, and Tyler Wheatley; and her great-grandchildren, Ella Crockett, Wyatt Crockett, Ian English, Meadow Gilbert, and Spencer English.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Alfred O’Day, and her brothers, Donald and Ronald O’Day, James V Burket and Sam K. Pletcher.
Fay enjoyed reading, needlepoint and many other crafts. She was a past member of Grace Baptist Church and the Nanticoke Yacht Club. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic and her quick wit. She will be missed by those who knew her.
