Edna Hall Purnell Millman passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 23, 1949. Edna was the daughter of the late William S. Purnell and Mary Lee Hawkins Purnell.
Edna graduated from Laurel High School in 1967. After graduating, she attended Delmarva Beauty Academy in Salisbury she worked for 53 years in the Salisbury area where her customers were considered her family. Edna was a very engaged member of the community. Her endeavors included Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Lioness Club of Laurel, Laurel Women’s Civic Club, and the Laurel Alumni Association. Edna was also a lifetime member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Edna enjoyed many hobbies such as dancing, beach time and picking crabs with the grandkids, water skiing, boating, fishing, and cooking for family dinners. Her love of scrapbooking and card making was shared with everyone.
She is survived in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Gerald Millman; twin daughters, Lori Mathews (Joseph) and Lisa Donovan (Keith); grandchildren Jake Mathews (Taylor), Logan Mathews (Megan), and Lorin and Caroline Donovan. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Don Millman (Siggy) and Terry Millman (Bonnie); cousins Billie Jane Wheatley and Pam Elliott; extended Ohio family, Karen Massari, Dominic Massari, Jim Russ (Kathy), and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Debra and Jim Jump and cousins Leslie and Bill Brown, Robert Wheatley and Lloyd Elliott. A visitation for family and friends will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 West Market Street, Laurel, DE 19956. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Reverend Dean Perdue will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
