Edmund Alexander Ruos, born April 1, 1932 in Bridgeville, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at his home in Hagerstown, Md. He had just celebrated his 88th birthday.

He was born in Bridgeville and grew up working on his family’s apple farm George B. Ruos & Sons. He attended Bridgeville High School and played baseball and soccer. He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. After returning to his home state of Delaware, he attended the University of Delaware. He played soccer for the University and was their team captain his senior year. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

After college, he returned to Bridgeville and married Shirley Ann Hudson, with whom he had two sons, Edmund Jr. and Clayton. After his divorce, he was married to Elizabeth Roulston and had two more children, Julie and Douglas. He had a successful sales career working for Oliver Tractors, Nationwide Insurance and Woods Corporation.

He enjoyed gardening, wood working, pheasant hunting, running, coaching and playing soccer. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. He was fun-loving and loved singing karaoke, dancing and spending time with friends and family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, George V. Ruos and Sallie Edmunds Ruos; his brother, George and his first wife Shirley. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth; sister, Nancy Ruos Gesell; his three sons, Edmund, Clayton and Douglas; and his daughter Julie. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Abigail, Grace and Justin and great-granddaughter, Clara.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
