Earl E. Chaffinch, Sr. passed away at home on April 27, 2020.

Born in Seaford on April 10, 1940. He attended Seaford High School until he joined the United States Air Force. He met his wife while stationed in Charleston, West Virginia. They were married on September 5, 1959.

Earl worked for Safeway for 21 years as produce manager and many other positions. Upon retirement from Safeway he went to work for the Seaford School District as a head custodian. He also worked for the Mid Atlantic Cleaning Service during his second retirement.

Earl was a 40-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was also a 23-year member of the American Legion and an Honorary member of the Blades Volunteer Fire Company.

He was a member of the Blades Town Council for over 25 years serving most of that time as the Police Commissioner. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He particularly liked to spend time at the Dairy Bar Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by mother, Dora E. Willin, father, Earl E. Chaffinch, step-father Walter J. Willin Sr., brother, Walter J. Willin Jr, and brother, Harley L. Willin.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Crystal J. Chaffinch, daughter, Crystal French and her husband Jack, daughter, Linda Wheatley and husband Thomas, son, Earl E. Chaffinch Jr. and his wife Leanne, daughter, Paula L. Moore and her husband Floyd, sister, Anna Mae Taylor, grandchildren, Allison Rebman, John French III, Nicholas Wheatley, Heather French, Matt Wheatley, Brooke Brittingham, Hannah Moore, and Floyd Moore IV. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to the Blades Volunteer Fire Company at 200 E Fifth St., Blades, Del.
