Albert Louis Johnson of Seaford passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, with his family by his side at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He was born on Nov. 29, 1952 in Seaford, son of the late George Earl and Rachel (Wheatley) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson built a lifelong career working as a welder for several companies, including Hanford Nuclear Plant, from 1978 until 1980; Palo Verde Nuclear Plant, from 1980 until 1985; Seaford Machine, from 1985 until 2000; and Saint John’s Holding Company, where he worked for nine years, retiring in 2010. He had many and varied interests and hobbies. He was skilled at repairing old tractors and welders and found great joy in watching his granddaughters race go-karts. Mr. Johnson was known as the tire washer, and he was a prominent fixture of North Oak Grove Road. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Claudia Fay Johnson; and his siblings; Jeanette Shockley, Raymond Johnson, Lola May Lemon, Lois McDowell, Karen Rosen, and Irene Brumbley. He is survived by his sons; Albert Kipp Johnson of Hooksett, NH and Albert Ripp Johnson of Bridgeville; his granddaughters; Makayla Brooke Johnson, Jayden Elizabeth Johnson, and Leah Faye Johnson, all of Bridgeville; his great-granddaughter, Kinsley Paige Gordon; his sisters; Gloria Jean Goff of Laurel and Bonnie Jewell of Richmond, VA; and his brother, Bob Johnson of Seaford.
To honor Mr. Johnson’s wishes, there will be no services. Final care for Mr. Johnson has been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home and Crematorium, a Parsell Family Funeral Home of Seaford.
