Bessie C. (“Betty”) Gast of Seaford passed away on May 1, 2020 at the Acts Retirement Center (Manor House) in Seaford.
Betty was the daughter of the late Clarence Collins and Mary Gooner Collins.
Betty worked as a lab technician for the DuPont Company prior to meeting Leon and starting their family. She had a heart for helping people as she volunteered at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for over 30 years and was a lifetime member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club and Mt. Olivet Church. She also was a member of the Greenwood High School graduating class of 1941 and involved with their Alumni Association. She was also an avid Baltimore Orioles baseball fan, rarely missing a game. She loved gardening, going to the beach but most of all enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leon T. Gast in 1986, her brother, Clarence Collins, Jr. in 2018 and her granddaughter, Hannah M. Gast in 1997.
Betty is survived by her sons Joseph Gast of Salisbury and Michael Gast of Dover and her daughter Debora Goulian of Kinnelon, New Jersey. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive her.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all services will be held privately.
