It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Lee Mackey, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, Dec.10, 2025 at her home in Delmar, Md. Born in Orange, Virginia on June 17, 1933, Doris lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church in Delmar, where she served as a trustee, sang in the choir, and took great joy in tending to the memorial garden. Beyond her community work, Doris had a zest for life. She loved to play Mahjong with her friends, was an avid sports fan, and found great joy in gardening.
Doris was the heart of her family, leaving behind her cherished children, Lawrence Edward Mackey (Melissa), William Edward Mackey, III, Lonni Jean Goodall; and Robert Lee Mackey (Angelina); 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Osborne Davis (Charlotte) and Jesse Davis (Sharon), and several nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Osborne Clinton Davis and Jessie Grey Davis, and a sister, Shelby Jean Jacobs.
We invite all who knew and loved Doris to join us for a memorial service in her honor on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at noon at St. Stephen’s Church, 101 E. State Street, Delmar, Del.. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, where family and friends can come together to share memories and celebrate the incredible woman she was.
