The 16th Annual Wings and Wheels Fall Festival will kick off with the Friday night dinner show on Oct. 3, followed by the main event on Oct. 4. The deadline for vendors is Sept. 15 and pre-registration is open for the car show (on the Chamber website and at hvccde.com).
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce will welcome the 287th Army Band as its entertainment for the Friday night dinner show kickoff to the weekend on Oct. 3. There will be two Army bands, one playing jazz and one playing rock.

Dinner will be provided with a backdrop of American Patriotism. Photos with B 25 Mitchell Bomber, Panchito and other WWII era aircraft, auction, 50-50 will be part of this fun evening. Tickets are now on sale via www.wings-wheels.com or calling 302-856-1544. Tickets are $60 each or $110 per couple. Tables of eight will be reserved.
The main event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Delaware Coastal Airport. This year the event will welcome the Air Force Performance Lab – a virtual opportunity to get up close to an F17 engine, do airmen challenges and more. It will also welcome back the USNA Parachute Team, DANG C130 and Black Hawk helicopter, kids activities (laser tag and some games) and 100 + vendors, static WWII Era aircraft display and, of course, a huge car show.
The Air Force Performance Lab will feature a trailer with virtual reality games and challenges and will be open to adults and kids all day on Saturday.
“We’re really excited about that. It adds a new element,” said Wings and Wheels Chairperson Linda Price.
Among the food, craft, informational and non-profit vendors will be the Troop 95 Boy Scouts and the Sussex Central ROTC color guard. Beebe Health Care will provide health screenings and will also partner with Cape Pharmacy to provide flu shots. The Flipside Band will also perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The car show awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
New to the event is the inaugural Less Nessman World Championship Invitational Turkey Drop. This event will take place Saturday afternoon at about 2 p.m. This is a much sought after event that will bring 30 + WWII era aircraft to the Delaware Coastal Airport to participate. The event will allow event attendees to see a fun event for pilots all vying for a trophy and bragging rights
For the second year, there will be a drop off at the event for Cars and Coffees toy drive for Nemours Children’s Hospital.
Parking will be at Sussex Academy High School at a cost of $5 per vehicle. There will be transportation from the parking lot to the airport as well as a pathway for walking. Railroad Avenue and Airport Road will be closed to traffic starting at 8:30 a.m.
