William “Gary” Sink of Laurel passed away at home on May 28. Born in Covington, Va., on Oct. 16, 1945, he moved to Laurel in 1961 and graduated from Laurel High School in 1964. At the age of 19 Gary enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Div.
Gary was a bowler starting with being on team Adams Oil and then several other teams through the years. He liked coon hunting and rabbit hunting. He also enjoyed horse racing as an owner and trainer and still had his last race horse Rusty.
He loved his grandkids, Chase and Sadie Harp. Gary had a daughter with Vivian Sink, Jeanne, whom he loved dearly. Gary was preceded in death by mother Nellie Fidazzo; stepfather Alfred Fidazzo; his father Benton Sink; step mother Margaret Sink; nephew Troy Tingler; and granddaughter Chloe Harp. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jeanne/Brad Harp, his grandchildren Sadie and Chase, his sister Barbara Jean Bush, brother-in-law Jim Bush and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 12 from noon-1 p.m. at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, in Laurel. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made in honor of William “Gary” Sink to the Seaford VFW, 9767 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
