William Blaine Altman, born on Dec. 8, 1974, in Mooresville, N.C., took his leave from this world on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, in Manassas, Va. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
William, fondly known as “Blaine,” graduated with the class of ‘92 from Delmar High School. He then moved on to Verizon, where he had a fulfilling 25-year career as a dedicated service technician—a testament to his unwavering work ethic and where he formed wonderful friendships and memories. His commitment and care for his work were evident in every interaction, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.
Growing up, Blaine attended St. Catherine Laboure Catholic School and Church, and later Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. His values and morals were nurtured there, guiding him throughout his life.
Blaine is survived by his loving mother, Laura Altman; his sister and best friend, Melissa “Lissie” Burgos; his grandmother, Jacqueline Abell Gallagher; his uncle, Michael Abell (Kim); his aunt, Carolyn Harney (John); his aunt, Wendy Kelly (Roy); his niece, Sianna Burgos; his nephews, Nito and Isaiah Burgos; his great-nephews, Maverick, Chieftain, and Bear Burgos; and great-nieces, Sage and Kaiah Burgos; and his cousins, Benjamin Abell, Nena Depaz, Mandy Drumming, Meghan Ray, Marcella Bingham, and Robert Bingham. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, and together they celebrate the joy he brought to their lives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Benjamin W. Abell.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Delmar. Interment followed at Melsons Cemetery in Delmar, where he was laid to rest beside his grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rikki’s Refuge Animal Sanctuary, 21410 Constitution Hwy, Rapidan, VA. 22733, reflecting Blaine’s generosity and love for his community.
William Blaine Altman will be deeply missed yet forever celebrated for the happiness he brought into our lives. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love that surrounded him.
