On Sunday, June 20, 2021, Warren “Wayne” Chaffinch passed away peacefully at home.
Wayne was born on May 19, 1940 in Seaford to the late Addie Chaffinch and Roland Jones from Seaford.
Wayne served a total of seven years in the Armed Forces at the age of 17, joining the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1959 then enlisted in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He began working at Dupont in 1965 for 28 years, retiring in 1993. After retiring he continued to work several jobs including Burton Bros. Hardware, NAPA, Cannon Pools and Spas, and The Guide.
Wayne’s passion in life has been dedicated to serving our community with the Blades Volunteer Fire Company for the last 54 years joining in 1967 and was a lifetime member and Chief Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane F. Chaffinch. He is survived by his daughter Dawn Chaffinch and son Dwayne Chaffinch (Dana); grandchildren Danah Chaffinch (Joey), Jordy Smart, Tayler Chaffinch (Don), Trever Chaffinch; and great-granddaughter Kaylee Bradford. He is also survived by a half sister Jean Stant, a special niece Gladys “Sis” Graham and several other nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He loved country music, his grandchildren, and his beloved cat “Smokey”.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2 at the Blades Volunteer Fire Hall, 200 E. 5th Street, Blades, DE 19973. Private viewing for family starting at 10:30 a.m. Public viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Services begin at noon and graveside will be at the Blades Cemetery.
