Wanda Rebecca “Becky” Brock of Laurel passed away on Oct. 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family, following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Becky was born on Feb. 29, 1948 in Havre de Grace, Md., the daughter of the late Alton Vann, Sr. and Wanda Fadeley Vann. She was the third child with two older brothers and two younger sisters.
She studied nursing in Baltimore City and was a Licensed Practical Nurse who devoted her entire life to caring for others.
Becky married Burton Brock on Feb. 20, 1987 in Elkton, Md.
She worked most notably in long term care facilities as a charge nurse, who rolled up her sleeves and worked closely with her Certified Nursing Assistants to provide loving supportive care for those who were aged and dependent. Becky was also an avid gardener and seamstress, having made over 100 quilts.
She is survived by her husband, Burton Brock of Laurel and her children, Fadra Crick of Wilmington, Kim Jenkins of Houstin, MO, and Scott Lease of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Alton Vann, Jr. of Laurel, Charles Vann of Perryville, MD, Patricia Kiddy of Newport Richey, FL, and Cynthia Sellers of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
