Virginia D. Wisseman of Delmar, Del., formerly of Seaford, died on Dec. 31, 2020 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after battling late state dementia and cancer.

Virginia was born on May 22, 1940 in Lees Mill Township, NC. She was the daughter of the late Betty and Oscar Hignutt and the late Roy Haislip.

Virginia split her time growing up between Delaware and North Carolina. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being home to raise her four children. Her favorite pastime was doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved just getting in the car and taking rides out in the country. She loved watching the game show network, her favorite show was the Family Feud.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Wisseman in 2011, one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Brenda and Steve Willey of Greenwood, William Jr. and Liz Wisseman of Seaford, Bob Wisseman of Seaford, and Lisa and Wade Whaley of Laurel; grandchildren and spouses: Jennifer and Mark Anderson of Greenwood, Steve and Kelly Willey of Greenwood, Matt and Jessica Wisseman of King George, VA, Coty Wisseman of Seaford, Jessica Whaley of Laurel and Danielle Whaley of Laurel; great-grandchildren: Steven Willey, Zarek Anderson, Braedan Anderson, Landon Wisseman, Parker, Amelia, Gavin and Braylin Wisseman; two sisters and their spouses: Mary Frances and Atwood Tucker of Milford, and Dynita (Haislip) and Tom Gottschall of Greenville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her special companion, her dog Chi-Chi.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Framptom Funeral Home – Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood. Face masks and social distancing will be in practice. Burial will follow in Saint Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
