Thomas Allan “Al” Temple, Jr. died peacefully on May 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 21, 1933, to Thomas A Temple and Catherine Friedel Temple.
He was a graduate of Seaford High School and the University of Delaware. After graduation, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Upon his return, he worked for the DuPont Company and after retiring, he opened his own land surveying company. Having been a professional engineer and land surveyor in Delaware since 1963, he is fondly remembered as our local surveyor.
Al is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma Lee Shockley Temple; his son, Brad and his wife, Margie; his grandson, Zachary and his wife, Kristen and their children, Oliver, Finley and Greta; grandson, Noel and his wife, Alexa; grandson, Patrick and his fiancé, Izzy; and grandson, Shawn.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 19 at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street, Seaford, DE. Following services, burial took place in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 315 High Street, Seaford, DE 19973.
