Stanley Nelson Justis Jr. of Delmar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1944, in Chincoteague to his late parents, Stanley Nelson Justis, Sr. and Barbara Justis Craver.

For 45 years, Stanley was a respected pipe fitter and master plumber, with a passion for his work that led him to establish his own part-time business, Accurate Plumbing, from which he proudly retired in 2007. He devoted much of his career to the Local Union 782 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters, where he enthusiastically served as President and Vice President of the executive board, along with numerous other roles, including the examining board and apprenticeship committee. His expertise earned him master plumber licenses in both Delaware and Maryland, solidifying his reputation in the trade.

Beyond his professional life, Stanley was known for his love of fishing. He could often be found at his favorite fishing spots, enjoying the great outdoors. His family was central to his life; he relished attending his great-grandchildren’s games and traveling with his family to create cherished memories. He also had a knack for adventure, frequently taking his children along on arrowhead hunting excursions.

A lifelong learner, Stanley trained in Isshinryu karate under Tom Lewis, where he proudly earned two black belts, and he dedicated 15 years to studying kickboxing. His commitment to fitness and martial arts was a testament to his spirited nature.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Linda H. Justis; son, Stanley Nelson Justis, III; daughter, Lisa Justis Gordy (Mark); step-daughters, Kimberly Widdowson Jordan (Daniel) and Stephanie Widdowson Briddelle; grandchildren, Christopher Justis (Amber), Curtis Justis (Ronli), Ashley Paugh (Nathan), Jordan Johnson (Michele), Catrina Hudson (Chad), Eliana Justis, Patrick Clarke (Kim), Andrew Clarke (Brittany), Amanda Hastings, Amber Andrew (Phill), and Tyler Briddelle; sister, Joy Chapman (Kenny); 20 great-grandchildren; uncles, Kenny Justis (Diane) and Phillip Perry (Lynn); and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Troia; and son-in-law, Ted Briddelle.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, beginning at 1 p.m., with visitation starting at noon. Following the service, Stanley will be laid to rest at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
