Sherin Rose Enger of Delmar, Del. passed away at her home on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 12, 1947 in Windsor, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Delma Gray Rose Holmes. After high school, she entered nursing school and became a nursing assistant. Throughout her career she had operated a day care facility at her home, worked at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and been a bookkeeper for the family business, Enger Electrical Service and Scuba Diving Co. Additionally, in later years, she worked for Lankford Sign Co. in Georgetown. 

She was known as Miss Sherie and Mrs. E to her many friends. While residing in Laurel, she had attended The Laurel Nazarene Church and had volunteered at the Good Samaritan Shop. 

Her late husband, Thomas E. Enger, I passed away on March 16, 1988. Sherin is survived by two daughters, Deanna Dawn (Stephen) Slaughter and Mary K. Enger; two sons, Thomas E. Enger II and Jacob Lee Enger; a brother, Scott  L. Holmes; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956 on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. Pastor James R. Hutchinson will officiate. A visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, FL  33134. The Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel is serving the Enger Family.
