Sharon Conaway of Laurel passed away on June 9, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Seaford on June 14, 1965  to the late Albert Wootten and Sally “Irene” Short-King. 

Sharon was a secretary in the special education department for Sussex Tech; a member of the Laurel Nazarene Church, enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, traveling; and especially traveling to Florida. Most of all she loved her family and treasured her time with them. 

Sharon is survived by her loving husband Dean Conaway; son Alex Bennington; step-children Derek Conaway (Christina), Adam Conaway (Melissa), and Ashton Lewis (Sean); brother Ray Johnson (Linda); sisters Brenda Pepper ( Horace) and Terri Passwaters (Marty); grandchildren Taylor, Taygan, Preston, Daxon, Peyton, Gage, Harper and Olivia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A visitation was held on Saturday, June 14 at the Laurel Nazarene Church in Laurel followed by a funeral service with Pastor Garry Light officiating and iInterment  in Odd Fellows Cemetery-Laurel. The family suggests contributions be made in Sharon Conaway’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
