Sharlana Frances Edgell of Seaford passed away on July 11, 2023, at her home. She was born on Nov. 20, 1946 to Neil G. Edgell and Virginia Rawlins Edgell.
She graduated from Seaford High School in 1964. Upon graduation she attended the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, graduating in 1969 with a degree in Fashion Design. She worked as a buyer and then became a store manager for Hutzlers of Baltimore. Prior to Hutzlers closing its doors, Sharlana went on to work at Hecht Co. where she continued her career in retailing and assumed various store presentations, merchandising, and store management positions until she retired.
She previously lived in West River, Md., but moved back to Seaford after retiring. Upon returning to Seaford, she was very active in the Republican party. She also played a huge role in getting the Seaford Historical Society established. She loved to travel, antiquing, the arts, and was an avid reader. She loved to entertain and was an outstanding cook.
She was predeceased by her parents, Neil and Virginia Edgell, and her brother, Neil Jr. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Rachel Levy-Lombara; grandsons, Sam and Danny; her many loving friends; and her poodle, Francie.
Graveside services were held on July 17 at St. Johnstown UMC Cemetery in Greenwood. Arrangements are in care of Cranston Funeral Home.
