Russell L. Wilson, Jr., passed away on June 22, 2021. He was born on Feb. 4, 1935.

A great man and father, Wilson was an Army veteran who is in his family’s hearts forever. There was never anything our Dad couldn’t ease, his soothing voice of reasoning seasoned with humor and love. He was a man of wit and wisdom, a teacher, teasing, and tender Dad, loved by all who knew him.

Being your daughters has been and will always be our greatest treasure. No matter what happened in our lives, you always heard what was being said; our mentor always there for us, always helped us to find our way in life’s travels. We were so honored and blessed to have you as our Dad, to share stories and dreams. Your heart was so kind and true. He had a sense of humor that rubbed off on everyone that knew him. You were our very first love. Our Dad was a man who could brighten your days, who always made you feel good.

What’s more he would do anything to make our wishes come true. He told the greatest stories, but just as importantly he knew how to listen. He was patient and kind, always a friend; the best you would hope to have. He was like no ordinary man. We’re proud to tell the world that he was, and always will be our father, our best friend, our Dad. We lay to rest a man, with a heart of gold. If we could write a story about him, it would be the greatest ever told of a kind and loving man we call our DAD!

He is survived by his wife: Margie O’Day Wilson; former wife: Rose E. Galloway; his brother: Rick Wilson; wife Kathy; two daughters: Denise Wilson and Karen Werner (husband John); grandchildren: Jennifer, Luis, Freddy, and Ashley; two great-grandchildren: Penelope and Zane; one nephew: Rich Wilson, one niece: Robin Hixon; mother Alice Wilson. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Brittney.

He is resting at Peace in Cokesbury Cemetery in Georgetown.
