Russell Elliott of Laurel passed away at Christiana Care on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 with his wife and children by his side. Russell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, and friend.

He was a sports enthusiast especially following the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. He loved dirt track racing, NASCAR racing, and attended many events throughout the years. Russell was a coach in Georgetown Little League for many years. He helped lead the Georgetown All-Stars team of 1981 to the World Series where they won the title. In his later years, he attended the University of Delaware football games, and any sport his grandchildren were involved in, especially girls’ softball. He had so many wonderful memories and became friends with so many during his lifetime; friendships he valued until the end.

As of late, Russell was happiest being at home, on the grass cutter, riding his golf cart or enjoying a back road ride taking in the countryside. He loved spending time with his family and friends that were like family. His biggest joy was his great-grandchildren, whom he would sit and watch for hours.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jane Elliott, and his in-laws, Carl and Elizabeth Utz. He is survived by his loving wife Mickey, with whom he spent 55 years and 360 days of marriage; children, Stacey (ML) of Laurel, and Ben (Amanda) of Ocean City, Md.; grandfather to; Jenna Ribinsky (Joey), Hunter Elliott, Cole Elliott, and Ethan Cahall. The twinkle of his eyes great-grandchildren; Bridget, Emmalyn and Brody. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Valerie Polgar and several cousins. Russell’s final wish was to have no services as he wanted to be remembered as a favorite memory you shared with him.
