Rufus “Harry” Hitch of Laurel passed away on July 2, 2021 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. He was born on Oct. 2, 1957 in Seaford, to the late Rufus “Jimmy” Hitch and Irene Bailey Hitch.

He was retired as a grain and poultry farmer. Harry will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the kindness he showed to everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by all.

Harry is survived by his brothers; David Hitch, and Robert “Bert” Hitch; sister, Joanne Brown and her husband Wayne; brother-in-law, Robin Conner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were very close to him and considered him to be more than an uncle.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brother, Burton Hitch; sister, Mary Conner; and his friend and companion of several years Belinda Smith.

A memorial graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 13 at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
