Roy Ellis Judy, Jr. of Greenwood passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Born in Milford on Sept. 24, 1929, Roy was the son of the late Roy Ellis Judy, Sr. and Lelia Fike Judy. After attending Bridgewater College, he married Jean Marie Dixon who preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2008.
In 1958, Roy was called to pastoral ministry of the Ridgely Church of the Brethren where he served for the next 41 years, while also driving a truck for Passwaters Petroleum and contracting two school buses to the state of Delaware. He led an exemplary life of serving others. Most of his life he grew and harvested crops on his farm, and described his favorite and best crop as his children. God and his family were always top priority. He also enjoyed crafting gourds from his garden and cheering on the Baltimore Orioles.
Roy is survived by five children: Steve Judy and Virginia Seely (Mike) all of Greenwood; Linda Przybyla of Eden, Md.; Valerie Abbott of Cleveland, TN; and Tim Judy (Brenda) of Greenwood; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Taylor; his daughter-in-law, Beth Judy; and his sons-in-law, Mark Abbott and Jim Przybyla.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy’s honor can be made to Camp Mardela, PO Box 460, Denton, MD 21629. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Ridgely Church of the Brethren at 100 Park Avenue, Ridgely, Md.
