Richard Woodrow Blackiston of Seaford passed away Sept. 24, 2021 at the Seaford Hospital after a year-long struggle with cancer.

He was born July 20, 1938 in Pondtown, Md. He was the son of the late Elsie Pierce and Woodrow Wilson Blackiston and stepfather Irwin Pierce.

Richard was employed with Hertrich Dealership in Seaford where he worked in maintenance for 27 years. He was also a long time member of AA. He was very fond of all his fellow workers and associates.

Richard is survived by his daughter Debbie Hutson of Cordova, Md., daughter Ruth Blackiston of Elkton, Md. and his son Richard Blackiston (Ricky) of Newark. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dorothy Barrnet. Richard is survived by his brother James T. Blackiston of Elkton, sisters Patricia Lynerd (husband Edward Lynerd) of Rock Hall, Md. and Betty Rummel of Rising Sun, Md.

He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he was very fond of.

When you think of Richard, remember him for his willingness to share all that he had with others. He was a generous, kind and hardworking individual throughout his entire life. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.

The family will be honoring Richard’s wishes of a private service.
