Richard Wilhelm of Bridgeville passed away on May 24, 2024. He was the son of the late John J. and Marie (Ender) Wilhelm. Richard was born in Suffern, NY on March 26, 1956. He graduated from Albertus Magnus High School in 1974 and St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY in 1978. 

He lived in Valladolid, Spain where he taught English in the Language Academy for 23 years. He returned to the Untied States and lived in Montvale, N.J. He then taught Spanish in St. Margaret’s and St. Augustine’s grammar schools for four years. After moving to Bridgeville, he taught in the North Dorchester School system for 14 years before retiring.

Richard is survived by his four sisters, Ann Sieger, Rita Marshall (Charlie), Rosemary Blom (Michael) and Barbara Wilhelm (Craig Majoros) and his many nieces and nephews who thought he was the best uncle ever. He was predeceased by his two brothers, John and Robert.

Richard will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He could always make you laugh. He will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Delaware Hospice who did a wonderful job in caring for Richard in his final days.

A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, June 4 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford. Graveside services will take place on Thursday, June 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd., Nanuet, NY 10954.
