Richard Lewis of Laurel, formerly of Lancaster, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. Born in Nanticoke, Pa., he was the son of the late George Calvin and Stasia Mary Gallick Lewis. He was the loving husband of Lynn M. Manton Lewis for which they celebrated 44 years of marriage Sept 25.
Mr. Lewis drove truck for Conway. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Vietnam War. He took great pride in his service to his country and enjoyed participating in activities honoring and supporting fellow veterans.
He also loved all animals and supported many rescues, often attending events where he could pet, feed, and spend time with them. Rick enjoyed fishing and loved sharing the story of the time his daughter caught a large catfish, screamed, and threw the rod, reel, and fish into the water. He loved the ocean and the beach, especially during the quiet off-season when he could walk with his wife and dog, soaking in the sunshine and the salty breeze.
He took great joy in watching his grandchildren grow, and was especially proud of his granddaughter, Brooke, and her accomplishments in field hockey — a sport he may not have fully understood but loved watching her play.
In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly missed by: two daughters, Wednesday Rozzo, partner of Eric Bock, Stockholm, NJ, and Amanda, married to Michael Harting, Leola; a son, Mark married to Mary Lewis, Laurel; eight grandchildren, Makayla, Brooke, Andrew, Abigail, Ryan, Macyn, Aislin, Allison. He will also be missed by his dog, Truman Bradley.
A Celebration of Life will be published at a later date. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions are welcomed to: the Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 W. Market St., Laurel DE 19956 or the Speranza Animal Rescue, 1215 Brandt Rd., Mechanicsburg PA 17055.
